Making the Grade: Setting the Finish Height of an Inground Swimming Pool

When we meet with homeowners to discuss inground fiberglass pools or Radiant pools, of all of the items we discuss setting the “grade” trumps them all.

What is grade you may ask? It is the given name to define the point which corresponds to the finished height of the pool. This might not be the finished height of the overall job as you need to account for the 4” concrete, paver, or coping stone that you placing on the top of the swimming pool.

The tool we use to set the grade is a transit or what others call a laser transit or laser level. The key to a successful build is for the builder and the homeowner to clearly define and understand the finished height of the pool and the finished height of the project.
